My Passion of
Life
The first thing that I want to say is that my subject of painting is the contemporary issues
and I always prefer to focus on those issues which create restlessness in our society. It is
the responsibility of an artist, no matter what his medium or place of work is, to depict
the contemporary issues that happens in our daily life. If the artists can depict the issue
and can make people aware of it, the works will help to reform the society as people will
get good, informative and educative messages. By keeping this thought in mind, I have
worked on different issues like Rohingya issue, the unexpected Terrorist attack that
happened here in Dhaka and also worked on the series bomb blasting issue. Political
instability is a very common thing here in Bangladesh. I work on that issue also. All the
issues that cause restlessness into our daily normal life are the subjects of my work.
Recently I have been working on COVID – 19. I believe making people aware of the current
situation is a responsibility of all the artists through their work.
Earlier, I tried to depict my childhood through my paintings. These works always makes
me nostalgic about my early childhood, my teenage life and how I grew up with the
passage of time. During my academic life, I have received a special award from the Art
College for such a work which I named as “Window Like a Mirror of My Childhood”. The
picture was two dimensional but I used sound-effect on that painting at that time which
has nowadays become a very common thing to do.
Whenever I work on a contemporary issue, one thing always runs in my mind. That is the
language of my painting must be universal. It should be understood by all. As it is a visual
art form, along with using the sound effect I always plan to use the video form to make
the contemporary issues more relatable and easy to understand by everyone.
Like every other artist, I also try to arrange and organize the colour and form of my art
according to my style and likings. I have never run after pure abstraction. My works
always consist of some formation and figurative illusions. I always try to present my
subject after distorting the forms and figure. As I believe to present the contemporary
issues, there are a lot of scopes if I work on figures and forms.
One of my works has also been nominated for awards and my name was on the Top 30 in
the Dhaka Art Summit 2012. I tried to depict the political situation of that time. The works
shows how power makes people blind and what a person can do to be in power and its
affect on common mass. In that work of mine, I tried to use a lot more vibrant colours.
